Avenir Essential Oils

Product Review: Avenir Essential Oils

This post is sponsored by Avenir Oils.  I received compensation and 4 bottles of essential oils (lemon, orange, and 2 lavender) for free in exchange for a review. The opinions expressed here are completely my own.

For over 2 years now, I have been an avid fan of using essential oils. I diffuse them in my home on a daily basis, and often use them homeopathically. My essential oils have completely replaced all my candles and synthetic fragrance sprays. I no longer use perfume, and instead rely on roll-on essential oils pre-diluted in coconut oil.

Why it took me so long to start using essential oils

Plain and simply: price!

Very early on in my research, I had only heard of doTerra and Young Living. I was absolutely blown away by the price though and couldn’t understand how so many people were affording tens of bottles of these coveted oils. I kept hearing wonderful things about the calming and healing elements of essential oils though, and so I began to dig deeper searching for a more affordable option that was direct-to-consumer, instead of a multi-level marketing company.

Essential oil brands I’ve been using

Eventually, I came across a company called Plant Therapy. Their prices are very affordable and fair. The quality of their oils is outstanding, their customer service is quick and efficient, and they seem to truly care about maintaining the best practices in harvesting essential oils. In other words, Plant Therapy is my baseline for everything an essential oil should be. It’s a high standard. I also have a couple bottles from Young Living, and while they’re certainly high in quality, they seem right on par with Plant Therapy.

Avenir Oils Is Newer to the Scene

Back when I was researching non-MLM essential oil companies, there’s a reason Avenir Oils didn’t show up in my search: they are newer to the scene! When I was first approached by Avenir Oils about a product review, I was more specific than usual in my response about how honest I am in my product reviews. You see, I have naively purchased “essential oils” from Amazon before and it turned out to be a shady company selling diluted, synthetic-filled scented water on Amazon (thank goodness for free returns!) I’ve been very happy with Plant Therapy, and didn’t think any other company could compare. I was wrong about that though!

According to Avenir Oils‘ website:

Every essential oil we sell is first inspected to ensure it’s purity.

1. First, the oil must be the correct aroma, color, and viscosity.

2. Each oil is tested with a Gas Chromotographic Spectrometer to ensure that the correct compounds are present in the correct levels to result in a pure, therapeutic grade essential oil.

3. All of our essential oils are grown in organic environments, free from harmful pesticides. When possible, we even try to obtain wildcrafted essential oils.

Avenir Oils: Aromatherapy

I have tested lemon, orange, and lavender essential oils from Avenir Oils. From the moment I twisted off the caps of the citrus oils, I knew they were the real deal. It’s hard to explain, but when you inhale pure essential oil—particularly citrus—an entire sense of uplift, calm, and happiness overcomes your mind and body. This does not happen with the fake stuff! A few drops in my diffuser of each lemon and orange, and it was no different than my Plant Therapy. However, when I first opened the lavender bottle, it did not smell right. It had an icy, almost menthol-type quality to it.

Avenir Oils: Customer Service

I emailed my contact with my concern about the lavender, and he openly admitted that particular lavender was a bad batch and that I, along with any other customer who had purchased from that batch, was receiving a free replacement. I received my new bottle very quickly. The acknowledgement of the issue, as well as the fair correction of the problem truly impressed me as a customer. If any of you are familiar with my Ava Anderson saga, you know that my biggest care as a consumer is handling issues head-on with honesty!

Avenir Oils: Variety

According to Avenir Oils’ website, there are 114 bottles of essential oils available in their shop. They all appear to be single oils only, with no custom blends available at this time. They also only sell in single 10 ml bottles.

Avenir Oils: Pricing

Avenir Oils pricing are ON. POINT! Just like Plant Therapy, they prove how you can have a high-quality, honest product and not have ridiculous pricing. The average price range is $7.95-$15.95 for the majority of the single oils. The lowest price is $5.95, and the highest is $129.95. These prices are more than fair, and with free shipping too!

Avenir Oils: Packaging

My only hesitation with ordering more Avenir Oils is the flow of the essential oils from the bottle. With Plant Therapy, except for the Vanilla, I can easily count each drop when I’m adding to one of my diffusers, making my homemade toxic-free deodorant, or creating a custom blend. The Avenir Oils come out way too fast in my opinion.

When I asked my contact about this, he replied:

In regards to the speed at which the oil comes out, this all has to do with the viscosity of the oil and the size of the hole in the built-in dropper (it’s called a euro style dropper). They do come in various sizes, and after trying different sizes we ended up going with what the majority of our customers seemed to prefer.

So it may just be me who finds it too fast, but I wanted to mention it all the same.

Avenir Oils: Guarantees

I love that Avenir Oils backs all their oils with a 100% guarantee!  Per their website:

We obtain our essential oil from as direct of a source as possible. We cut out the middle men, which means we are able to sell our essential oils at affordable prices, while still maintaining high standards that result in 100% pure, natural, therapeutic grade essential oils.

We take such great pride in our products that every single essential oil we sell is backed by our unconditional satisfaction guarantee. If you are not satisfied with the quality of our product, you may return it to us for a refund.

Avenir Oils: Free Shipping!!!

If you’re an Amazon Prime user, like I am, you are completely spoiled by free shipping. I hate that I’m so against paying for shipping now, but that’s how I’ve now become accustomed. Whenever a small business—like Avenir Oils and Plant Therapy—are able to provide FREE shipping, I certainly take note! It is a HUGE BONUS to not have to pay additional fees, and it means you can buy more product from them!

Avenir Oils: Final Thoughts

I really enjoy my orange, lemon, and lavender Avenir Oils! I believe this company is honest in their harvesting methods, and it is certainly a company you should consider buying your essential oils from. I will most likely purchase oils from Avenir in the future.

They are a crock of #@$%. Placed an order almost a month ago. They immediately charged my credit card. It says my Order is still processing! They do not respond to e-mails and conveniently leave no customer service number.

  • Sharon Lilly

I place an order on 9/3/17, my credit card was instantly charged. As of 9/18/17 I have not received my order. One email response was from Lee, and his reply was he would check on it. Two more emails later and no response. And of course NO phone #.
I will have to dispute the charge with Visa in order to get my money back.
