Sweet Summer Salad

I toasted summer goodbye tonight with my favorite summer dish. I love this refreshing salad best with sweet organic strawberries, but the fruit choice can easily be altered with the season. Other fruits I love to pair with this mixture include blueberries, peaches, watermelon (you wouldn’t think it, but watermelon is an AMAZING companion to

Spinning: Oh the Burn

When is the last time you tried something new? I’ve been getting that nervous but excited feeling a lot lately as I try out different classes at the gym. Today was no different. I decided to try spinning class for the first time. Intrigued by the class description (“Ready for an hour of adventure? Music?

Healthy Guide to Eating Unhealthy on Holidays

Holidays are about family, friends, and food. And maybe not even in that order for some people. “Moderation is key” might be an overused saying, but it’s such a true statement. You can still give in to cravings without completely derailing your health and fitness goals. I’m the first to say that eating gluten-free is

Product Review: Yonanas

I’ll probably sound like an infomercial as I describe this fabulous device, but I can’t help it. It really is the most impressive little machine we’ve ever had. We use it at least once a week and it totally curbs any cravings for real ice cream. It’s also a great way to sneakily get kids

Benefits of Coconut Oil

I recently read a magazine article about a boy with Asperger’s who experienced minimal behavioral improvement with a gluten-free, casein-free diet but full relief of symptoms once they added 1-2 tablespoons of coconut oil per day to his diet. He’s now fully mainstreamed in school and more social. Apparently teachers and other parents can’t believe

Dance Like No One’s Watching

Zumba has been all the rage for a few years now but I’ve only been taking it for a few short weeks. I love it because it reminds me of all the jazz dance classes I took growing up, only in Zumba they don’t teach you the choreography before setting you loose. Trying to keep

Planning for the Week Ahead

My husband is currently training for the Philadelphia Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon in September (follow his journey on Twitter: @marshalloram). This means he’s deep into a rigorous training schedule designed by professional triathletes and marathoners who know the right variations of mileage leading up to the big race day. For weeks he’s been waking

Farmstand Fresh vs Budget

Today I was reminded what an apple is supposed to taste like. One bite into an organic, locally-grown apple, fresh from the farmstand, and I was immediately transported back to my childhood in the apple orchard town of Londonderry, NH. Apples in that town are such a delicacy that I vividly remember on many occasions

Breakfast under 250 calories

Every morning should start with a hefty helping of protein. This will curb hunger longer and keep you feeling satisfied well through lunchtime. My favorite high-protein breakfast is delicious, easy to make, and packed with nutrition. Of course it’s gluten-free, but it’s also grain-free which I find keeps me even more clear-headed and energetic. All

How do you keep yourself accountable with your health and fitness goals? For me, it’s using social sites like Dailymile, Runkeeper, Twitter and Facebook. The more people you tell about your goals, the more people you have to “disappoint”–even if those people are complete strangers. That may be putting some undo pressure on people without

Inaugural Post!

I’m not exactly sure what you’re supposed to write in the first post of a brand spankin’ new blog but I assume it’s something like this…my name is Meridith Oram. I am a former digital marketer turned Licensed Massage Therapist. I am a mom to a 2.5 year old toddler and wife to a pretty

Gluten Free Pizza

I found the original base recipe for gluten-free pizza on but have tweaked and perfected it over the last 6-8 months to make it my own. Cooking gluten-free can often feel like a science project, so my adjustments included changing the ratio of flours and tossing in additional herbs. I highly recommend using a quality pizza
