You’ve been eating clean and working out, but your results have come to a halt. You’ve been closing all the rings on your Apple Watch most days but your truth pants are feeling a bit snug. Mentally, you feel like you’re finally loving yourself towards healthy but it would still be nice if the scale could reflect the positive changes you’ve made.

Sound familiar? Let’s try something new.

What is Carb Cycling?

Carb Cycling is a tried-and-true approach to nutrition recommended by many fitness professionals because it can even out hormone levels, which are often the culprit for plateaued results and extra pounds (especially in women!) At it’s basic definition, carb cycling is alternating low carb days with high carb days. High carb days promote muscle development and stamina, while low carb days encourage loss of fat.  Eating clean is healthy but food choices can become repetitive so our bodies know exactly what to expect. By carb cycling, you keep your body guessing, which can ultimately improve the way your body metabolizes food, absorbs nutrients, and regulates insulin levels.

I personally like carb cycling because it doesn’t vilify carbohydrates like many diets have wrongly done over the years; instead, the methodology is based in science that we need complex carbs to achieve the highest performance of our muscles and brain. I also believe carb cycling is sustainable because it allows so much flexibility since there is no elimination of any food groups—just mindful eating! Since carb cycling falls into my philosophy of loving yourself towards healthy, I’m happy to announce my latest online group!
