Review: Sweaty Bands Headbands

I have a very love/hate relationship with headbands. I want to love them, and have found several cute ones over the years, but they either squeeze my head so tight that I end up with an excruciating headache, or they slip back and become a serious distraction in the midst of a workout. Raise your hand if you’ve ever almost fallen (or actually fallen!) off a treadmill because you’re too busy fiddling with your stupid headband. ME!

Enter Sweaty Bands.

The latest fitness trend at my gym—well, after those funky, psychedelic patterns sprawling across the lycra of every brand from Fabletics to C9 that aren’t exactly flattering on most women—are headbands. I see them ranging in width, color, sparkle, and pattern. From my perspective, it seems the yogis brought back the fitness sweatband, with Lululemon ensuring it stayed on trend, instead of drifting back to the Jazzercise fashion tragedy of the 1980s. How well put together these women are now looking with a pop of color between their foreheads and otherwise boring ponytail!

Last week I put it out to Twitter:

And got this response:

I had heard of this brand before, so I quickly perused my oh-too-convenient Amazon app and within moments of scrolling through the very cute design offerings from Sweaty Bands, I was clicking “order now.” Amazon Prime is dangerous like that! I ordered a 1-inch in blue and white for $15 with free shipping.

On Saturday, I enjoyed my first workout with my brand new Sweaty Band headband, and let me tell you, I’m in love! It did not slip once. The secret is putting the inner “Sweaty Bands” logo tag on the right side of your head—this ensures the velvet fabric correctly grips your hair and stays put. You may have some slippage if the inner tag is on the left.

My headband was in the exact same place I put it on hours after running (both treadmill and indoor track), stair climbing, weight lifting machines, and cooling down on the Elliptical. I also went into the steam room where my hair curled up and dampened in the humidity. Still did not move! Nor did my wispy baby hairs (er…damaged “bangs”) escape from under the headband—hooray!

As mentioned before, I’m very prone to getting headaches with even the slightest pressure of a headband, and I wore my Sweaty Band for 3-4 hours without an issue. I pretty much forgot it was there. A miracle!

I really recommend this product! They’re $15 each on Amazon. Click on my affiliate link to order yours today:
