Here are my top 4 tips for evolving your blog from an idea, into a business.

  1. Share and promote your posts! It sounds so basic, but people get nervous about sharing. Believe in your content. Even if you’re just inspiring one person; the time you have spent on your blog is worth it.
  2. Just do it! You don’t need a beautiful website, a fancy name, and a cohesive theme. Just start writing. Don’t worry about finding your voice and identifying your “ideal reader” until after you’ve gotten your feet wet.
  3. Figure out what you want to do. This is the key component of evolution. What is your goal–with your next post, 6 months from now, 1 year from now? Do you just want a creative outlet? Do you want to be a blogger and monetize your site through ads, product reviews, freelance writing, and guest posts? Do you want to have a business and sell products you created, and/or provide a service?
  4. Identify your why. Why are you doing this? Is it just for fun? (That’s okay if it is!) Or, are you focused on creating a viable income to support your family. Your “why” is the fuel for everything.
