Here are my top 4 tips for evolving your blog from an idea, into a business.
- Share and promote your posts! It sounds so basic, but people get nervous about sharing. Believe in your content. Even if you’re just inspiring one person; the time you have spent on your blog is worth it.
- Just do it! You don’t need a beautiful website, a fancy name, and a cohesive theme. Just start writing. Don’t worry about finding your voice and identifying your “ideal reader” until after you’ve gotten your feet wet.
- Figure out what you want to do. This is the key component of evolution. What is your goal–with your next post, 6 months from now, 1 year from now? Do you just want a creative outlet? Do you want to be a blogger and monetize your site through ads, product reviews, freelance writing, and guest posts? Do you want to have a business and sell products you created, and/or provide a service?
- Identify your why. Why are you doing this? Is it just for fun? (That’s okay if it is!) Or, are you focused on creating a viable income to support your family. Your “why” is the fuel for everything.
